Pastor Jenkins is a native of South Santee, South Carolina. He is the son of the late Ernest and Ethel Jenkins and the seventh child of their ten children. Rev. Jenkins was educated in the public schools of Charleston County where he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1974. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Claflin College in Orangeburg, SC. He taught for one year in Augusta, Georgia, and then entered the University of Miami at Oxford, Ohio. He received his Masters of Arts Degree and then returned to the state of South Carolina and his Alma Mater Claflin College, where he taught and coached for two years. In 1983, he began working in the Orangeburg public school system at Edisto High School.
In August of 1982, he married his high school Sweetheart, Betty L. Powell and in 1984 their first child, Deven, was born. Dannin was born in 1986 and Phillip arrived in 1988. Rev. Jenkins accepted his calling to the ministry in December 1992. Pastor Jenkins is a retired educator and has worked in several teaching, administrative and coaching positions during his many years of employment in the Orangeburg School Districts.
In 1995, the Lord greatly blessed him when he was provided with a team of Christian players that toured the country of Kenya, East Africa, teaching basketball and spreading the GOSPEL OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.
